Nakheel, a Dubai-based developer, has floated a design and build tender for the Deira Islands coastline -Stage 1 and might award the contracts by Q3, 2014.
"The contracts will be awarded tentatively by the end-September," a Nakheel official told Zawya in an exclusive.
The scope of work includes placing and profiling of up to nine new beaches, construction of new coastal structures including breakwaters, revetments and quay walls, completion and/or modification of existing coastal structures, limited land reclamation and earth works.
Deira Islands, which faces the Deira Corniche, comprises four islands featuring mixed-use plots for the development of beachfront resorts, hotels and residential communities with a total area of over 15.3 square kilometers. The islands add 40 kilometers to Dubai's coastline, including 21 kilometers of beaches.
The tender documents can be collected from 17 June, 2014 by paying a non-refundable fee of USD 13,624 (AED 50,000).
The last date to submit the bids is 14 August, 2014.
In April, Nakheel awarded two contracts worth over USD 12.8 million (AED 47 million) to AE7, an American firm, for design and supervision services on Deira Islands, including the Night Market and Board Walk projects.
