Daelim /Ibn Zahr Sign EPC Management LOI For Plant Expansion
SABIC affiliate Saudi European Petrochemical Company (Ibn Zahr) announced on 18 July it had signed a letter of intent (LOI) with South Korea’s Daelim Industrial Company for the provision of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) management services for utilities and off-site facilities for its polypropylene-3 plant under construction in al-Jubail. The new facilities are to be completed in conjunction with the main polypropylene-3 plant by 2Q 08. The new plant will add 500,000 tons/year capacity of polystyrene, nearly doubling Ibn Zahr’s capacity. Last year, Ibn Zahr signed an LOI with Norway’s Aker Kvaerner for the provision of program management services and basic engineering services for its polypropylene-3 expansion project (MEES, 22 August 2005).
