Muscat: The Oman National Emergency Management Centre announced the closure of a number of sub-roads of coastal areas as a precaution measure on Wednesday, and identified a number of shelters for those affected by high tide, in case the situation calls for it.

In an online statement, the Centre said: "A number of coastal bypass roads have been closed as a precautionary measure, we call on citizens and residents to avoid coastal areas during this period."

"Due to the effects of high tide during Tropical Cyclone Kyarr, the National Civil Defence Committee announces the provision of shelters in Wusta and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates, in case of evacuation," the Centre added.
