Dubai A new non-metal knife could give the traditional metal knife a run for its money.
Looking for a knife that cuts the mustard? One sharper than that made of metal? Can you imagine cutting fruits, vegetables or even meat with a piece of ceramic?
Great White Knives have discovered a new use of ceramic to make exactly that — white knives.
These pieces of non-metal cutlery, could pose as alternatives to traditional metal knives.
The manufacturer has combined Zirconium oxide (ceramic) with deposits of metal for exactly that purpose — so it doesn't set off alarms for security personnel.
A definite advantage of the ceramic knife is that unlike metal, it doesn't absorb the smell of the substance it is in contact with, and also doesn't rust or lose lustre easily, its maker claims.
"The knives are sharper than hardened steel and so rarely need sharpening; just around once a year," a company representative told Gulf News.
