TEHRAN -- The contract on land preparation for phase 12 at the South Pars (SP) gas field, southern Iran, was inked here on Sunday.
Signed between Petropras Company and Fater Kowsaran Jonoub Company, the contract, under which 180 hectares of lands at Tombak region will be prepared for development operations at SP phase 12, calls for Rls.230 billion of investment, Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported.
Also, earthmoving, earthfilling, and site selection operations will be carried out for refinery facilities at Phase 12, said Gholam-Reza Manuchehri, Petropars managing director.
He added that Fater Kowsaran Jonoub is to finish land preparation operations within eight months.
"Subsequent to preparing lands, the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractors will be selected to implement concrete operations to install facilities," Manuchehri noted.
The official named upstream activities by his company for Phase 12 as the drilling of 36 wells, undersea pipe-laying (three 32-inch pipes each as long as 150 km), construction of three platforms and jackets, and a refinery for gas condensates and gas sweetening. He added, "A contract will be signed with Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Company (ISOICO) on the installation of jackets next week."
Installation of jackets is expected to take 12 months, after which the drilling operations will be launched, he further said.
Manuchehri also said that documents on drilling bids will be distributed in upcoming days.
Also, Hamid Akbari, project director for SP Phase 12 at the Petropars said that the contract on the basic, offshore, and onshore design plans has been signed with an Australian company. He declined to name the company.
He added that offshore designing has been completed, and the onshore one is progressing well. Moreover, basic designing is expected to finish by late June 2007.
"For offshore topography, a contract worth $4.5 million has been signed with a foreign company," he stated but refused to elaborate.
Onshore operations are progressing and the tender documents on platforms are to be completed within the next two months, he noted.
He went on to say that the bid on onshore refinery for the phase will be launched June 2007.
Fater Kowsaran Jonoub Company has been selected from among nine bidding companies.
