Classic Metallic is setting up a new fastener plant
Classic Metallic Sheet Factory LLC (CMSF), a wholly owned subsidiary of Classic Group and a leading manufacturer and supplier of fasteners and fixings for construction and petrochemical industries, is setting up a Dh. 50-million ($ 13.62 mn) cold-forging fasteners manufacturing facility in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Construction of the state-of-the-art facility commenced in November 2007, and is expected to be complete by July 2008.
"The expansion into manufacturing of cold-forging fasteners marks an important step in supporting our customers," said Shabbir A Shaikh, Managing Director. "We are the first company in the UAE to set up a cold-forging plant for specialised industrial fasteners. We will also increase our production capacity and improve our process and standards to meet and exceed the quality requirements of our customers."
The 50,000-sq-ft facility will be located in Sajja Emirates Industrial City - Sector 7, and will have a monthly capacity of 900 metric tonne of alloy steel and stainless steel fasteners. The total plot area is 150,000 sq ft, out of which 50,000 sq ft will be developed in the first phase, and the balance 100,000 sq ft will be used for future expansion.
The plant will boast modern cold-forging machines, heat treatment plant, wire-drawing plant, and coating facilities under a single roof. Fasteners will be manufactured in the range of M6 to M24 with a maximum length of 220 mm. The automatic plant will have more than 120 employees in the first year and will manufacture a wide range of fasteners for local and export markets. The new unit will further stren-gthen the Sharjah-based Classic Group's presence in the fastener industry.
Founded in 1992, the ISO 9001: 2000-certified CMSF has four divisions: rivet manufacturing, anchor bolt (bent bolt) and stud bolt manufacturing, steel trading, and hot-dip galvanising. Besides CMSF, the group has two other subsidiaries - Classic Extrusions LLC, in the UAE itself, and Classic Fastening Systems Pvt Ltd, in India. The Classic Group is active in four business sectors: industrial and automotive fasteners, aluminum extrusions, steel trading, and architectural hardware and tools.
Aggregate Growth
Tarmac Middle East produces aggregates and armour stone for sea defense, asphalt and concrete products.
The Middle East is in a growth mode and there are many partners propelling this forward growth. One such is Tarmac Middle East which supplies aggregates, an essential component for construction activity. Within the GCC, Tarmac Middle East operates in the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar producing aggregates and armour stone for sea defense, asphalt and concrete products as well as operating nine asphalt plants with sixteen asphalt gangs. The various operations have accreditation for its products from the Dubai Central Laboratory, RTA, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and a number of Oman municipalities. During 2007, Tarmac Middle East will lay close to two million tonne of asphalt, including a range of coloured asphalt, and produce in excess of 12 million tonne of aggregates, which are expected to grow to 3m and 15m tonne respectively by 2008. Tarmac Middle East currently operate the Tarmac Group's two largest quarries, supplying the Abu Dhabi and Dubai markets. All of Tarmac Middle East operations are accredited ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and the company aims to be a reliable, understanding, responsive, straight-forward and ideal business partner.
