DIWANIYA: Hundreds of Diwaniya citizens demonstrated demanded the termination of US forces stay in Iraq, provision of necessary service and work opportunities and warning of increasing the volume of demonstrations if their demands are not met.
Jabbar al-Shaibani, a leader organizer, communist, told Aswat al-Iraq that "the city called many times for these demands, but no ears were given".
He added that "the demonstration marched with 500 citizens , including women and children, who raised placards denouncing the government and demanding the central and local governments the implementation of basic services , otherwise, these demonstrations shall be repeated in stronger manner".
The Democratic and Communist parties, the Socialist Movement, NGOs and some well-known personalities took part in the demonstration.
For the last two weeks, civil activists, through the Facebook and media announcements, said they will organize demonstrations in different provinces demanding dissolving the present government due to its failure in administering the country and lack of services and eradication of corruption.
Diwaniya lies 180 km west of the capital, Baghdad.
