KUWAIT, Dec 17 (KUNA) -- Aroma of tea prepared on coal fire blends with surrounding manifestations and displayed items depicting the Kuwaiti heritage in winter at Al-Mubarakia market where families get together to indugle in the special experience.

This market has become one of the country's main landmarks. It attracts both local and foreign tourists for its simplicity and appropriate prices of the products on display, that also lure natives of all social segments.

"The atmosphere reminds us of the past cafes simplicity," said Ghanima Bourisley, a national touring the busy bazaar, affirming that the market attracts citizens of all social classes, seeking to experience a sense of the past.

Another frequent visitor, Khadija Ashkanani, said such bazaars gather family members to have tea in a cozy atmosphere, remembering "our rich past which melts with the renovated heritage."

Seham Al-Wegayyan, another frequent visitor of the vast place, said Al-Mubarakiya market is one of her favorite places where she finds all what she needs from fish, meats and cheese, in addition to the spacious cafes with bargaining prices.

"Al-Mubarakia market reminds us of Al-Hussein area in Egypt and other bazaars in other countries which meet the needs of all segments of the society," said Latifa Al-Sultan.

This place has also become a resource for the upcoming generations in Kuwait to get acquainted with items whose making date back to the ancestors.

The bazaar, located in the heart of Kuwait city, was established earlier than the middle of last century. Merchants display various kinds of handicraft products, hand-made rugs, jewelleries, utensils, perfumes, textiles, local candies and sweets, spices, clothes and diverse kinds of food.
