Minsk - Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky underlined that his country considers Syria a main partner and a friend that has an important position on the map of international relations.

"Syria is one of our main partners in trade relations...Belarus adopts a policy of positive cooperation with Arab countries and the whole world in general," said Sidorsky who met People's Assembly Speaker Dr. Mahmoud al-Abrash on Tuesday.

Sidorsky pointed out that the standing relations between the two countries are built on firm principles of partnership and mutual trust, expressing confidence that these relations would be further developed and new prospects of cooperation would be opened in the future.

For his part, Dr. al-Abrash said Syria and Belarus can make joint projects a success serving the interest of both countries, hoping that Syrian businessmen would find a good investment ground in Belarus.

Talks during the meeting also dealt with means to boost up parliamentary and trade relations between the two countries.

Earlier, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko asserted during his meeting with al-Abrash that Syria is a main partner of Belarus in the Middle East, adding that Belarus can cooperate with all other countries in the region through Syria.
