Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) said yesterday it will provide ground handling support for the second edition of the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) to be held from January 19 to 21, 2012 at the purpose built state-of-the-art aerospace exhibition facility in Sakhir airbase.

BAS signed an agreement with the organisers of the Committee of Bahrain International Air Show in the presence of Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, Capt. Abdulrahman Al Gaoud, Deputy Chairman and Undersecretary for Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs and Phil Bowell, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Airport Services.

Bahrain and its neighbouring countries in the Gulf and Middle East regions were among the world's most important growth markets of the commercial and corporate aviation domains,Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaoud  and Phil Bowell said in a joint statement yesterday.

They said the 2012 event would once again feature different segments of the aviation industry, distinguishing it from other events.

As a meeting place of key decision-makers from airlines, government, defence, aircraft and engine manufacturers, airports, and support services providers, BIAS 2012 will give attendees an outstanding opportunity to network, launch new products, set-up joint ventures and meet regional and international buyers, as well as local and trade media.

"Trade shows with a clearfocus are essential for our industry, especially in the face of global competition. With the excellent support BIAS 2010 received from partners, such as Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) we have created an attractive platform for all exhibitors and visitors," said Al Gaoud "BIAS is held at the centre of a region witnessing phenomenal growth in the aviation sector and BAS is privileged to extend all necessary ground handling support to make this event a greater success," Bowell added.
