Erbil - A Kurdish deputy said Saturday the Kurdistan Region's president, Massoud Barzani, will head to Baghdad to discuss a number of issues over the Iraqi government formation.
The new cabinet misses nine members including four security positions. The posts were suspended for allocation of a share to women in the 42-member administration. The major blocs all deem one of the security posts their right.
Kurds eye the State Ministry for National Security or the Intelligence Dept. while many believe they have already taken their share- seven ministries including the foreign.
Speaking to AKnews, 'Arif Tayfur, the second deputy Iraqi parliament speaker said Barzani's visit to the Iraqi capital is to implement the final stages of his initiative which led to the formation of the Iraqi government.
Barzani's power-sharing proposal led to signing a pact which eventually served assembly in parliament and election of the new government after eight months of delay.
The U.S. vice president, Joe Biden met with Barzani Thursday where the U.S. official appreciated the role of the Kurdish president and urged him to exert his efforts to take his initiative to the final stage and assist "in allocating the suspended security posts."
