VIVA yesterday announced the launch of its exclusive social media networking service 'Shabik' ('Connected').
This service is considered to be the first of its kind in Bahrain as it encompasses a collection of favourite social networks and email providers in one easy to use platform.
This communication and interaction platform unifies the best of what the internet has to offer under one roof. Shabik provides subscribers with a single port of call to exchange and discuss opinions on a wide variety of topics ranging from arts and poetry to sports, technology and financial markets.
It also helps customers stay up to date with the latest local and international news, sports and financial bulletins and daily weather forecasts. In effect, Viva Shabik serves as a portal to nearly all internet based applications, taking the online world from the desktop computer to the mobile phone.
Shabik provides users with several networking services having branded social networking services such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and LinkedIn with e-mail services provided by Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and instant messaging applications such as Yahoo, MSN and Google Talk. It also consists of customised social networking services and gives users access to services such as chat rooms, photo sharing sites, me saging sites, mini blogs and news sites.
Customers can activate the service by sending a blank SMS to 149 to allow them to use the Shabik service with an unlimited amount of data for only 500fils every 10 days. The service operates in a simplified and quick way on most mobile devices supporting GPRS through an application that users can download once they subscribe. This service is also suitable for the business community as it provides access to email as well as virtual meeting rooms using chat features in a secure and reliable way.
