MANAMA: Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and manager of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), has signed an agreement with Bahrain Specialist Hospital (BSH) to operate the airport clinic of the new passenger terminal building for the next 10 years.
BSH was the winning bidder of a public tender to operate the airside medical facility at BIA new passenger terminal building.
A dedicated team of healthcare professionals will be available around the clock to offer medical services to passengers and airport staff and will also act as first medical responders in case of emergencies.
The agreement was signed by BAC chief executive Mohamed Al Binfalah and BSH chairman Hamed Al Zayani at the headquarter of Bahrain Airport Company in Muharraq.
Speaking at the signing, Mr Al Binfalah said: “Health and safety is one of our highest priorities, and we expect to see the level of service improve further when we launch the new passenger terminal building. BSH was selected through a competitive tendering process on the grounds of its technical capabilities and the expertise of its team. It has a reputation for excellence in healthcare across the kingdom as the first Joint Commission International accredited hospital in Bahrain, which is recognised worldwide as a symbol of the highest quality. We look forward to work in partnership with BSH to support this vital function at our new world class airport.”
Mr Al Zayani said: “We congratulate BAC on the new passenger terminal building and are delighted to enter into this partnership with them. This agreement aims to provide the best medical services to BIA users and represents a unique opportunity for BSH, as the airport clinic will be an essential addition to other services for travellers to and from the airport.”
He added: “Since its establishment in 2002, BSH has focused on continuously raising the bar in terms of the level and standards of care it provides to patients in Bahrain. Its ability to go from strength to strength year after year is based on the work of a highly specialised medical team of qualified consultants and specialists using latest technologies and state-of-the-art medical equipment and systems.”
