Allotment letters for 45 houses under the National Housing Scheme given
"The Ministry of Housing is to allot 2700 houses and 600 properties by the year end all over Bahrain," said Shaikh Ebrahim bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister for Housing, yesterday.
He was addressing the gathering in Riffa, where Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King's son, gave allotment letters for 45 houses under the National Housing Scheme.
After allotting the letters, Shaikh Khalid told Bahrain Tribune that this was only the beginning in Riffa. "There is more coming. The joy of the people is at the heart of His Majesty the King," he added.
"I am glad to be here distributing these houses to these applicants," Shaikh Khalid said.
He added that a decent and honourable life for the people was at the heart of the King. Conveying the greetings of His Majesty the King to the beneficiaries of the housing units distributed yesterday in this special commemorative, Shaikh Khalid said that it showed the cooperation between the South governorate and the Ministry of Housing.
"The construction of these units come as a part of the Government's policy of good guidance."
"This project come also as a part of the provision of units for all Bahraini families and a concrete cooperation between the South governorate and the Ministry of Housing of this site in East Riffa.
He said it was a humanitarian gesture to help to find solutions that contribute to the rightful place for our loyal people," he said.
The minister, detailing plans for Riifa said, "A huge mall at an estimated cost of BD2 million was to be built," he added. The profits of the mall would be shared with the residents of Riffa, Shaikh Ebrahim said. Earlier, Ali bin Khalil Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the Southern Municipal Council, told Bahrain Tribune that this was the first housing project for Riffa. Two years ago His Majesty the King had taken the first step to it and in 2008 the project is ready.
He said that by he year end another 30 houses are expected to allotted. "We do not have enough housing.
The applications are many. I do my best to ensure that our plea is heard in all the right places, so that the people get their right," he said. Applications for housing are pending in both East and West Riffa, Askar, Jaw and Zallaq.
