MANAMA: Tamcon, a Bahrain-based civil and building construction company, has announced the appointment of Abdulla Alabbasi as the company’s new chief executive.
Mr Alabbasi joined Tamcon, in an acting CEO capacity at the start of 2020, and brings to the table over 11 years of experience in engineering, planning, contracting, and industrial area development and management.
Prior to that, Mr Alabbasi was executive director of technical affairs in the Bahrain Investment Wharf, and before that, as chief of technical affairs in addition to his service in Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry. Tamcon chairman Abdulrahman AlNesef said, “The appointment of Mr Alabbasi as chief executive, delivers on our belief in harnessing the talents within the larger Al Khaleej Development Company (Tameer) Group, and in utilising and supporting the development of such talent.
“Having held this position in an acting capacity for well over a year and during this time successfully leading the company through a difficult period, the board of directors has every confidence that he has the aptitude and capability to continue his work at Tamcon at the highest levels of performance, and that he will further fulfill our ambitions for the growth and development of the company.”
Mr AlNesef noted that such development and support of upcoming Bahraini professionals and the approach of engaging them in functions that contribute to national growth was part and parcel of Tamcon’s mission.
A subsidiary of Tameer, Tamcon was established in 2007 as an independent construction company to focus on development of local and regional projects.
It has delivered projects in social housing, infrastructure, and residential development.
