Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, the spiritual leader of the global Anglican Communion, will begin a pilgrimage to the holy sites in the region on Friday, starting from Jordan, according to a statement issued by the Episcopal (Anglican) Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East. On Saturday, the archbishop will lay the foundation stone for the Anglican Church of St. John the Baptist at the Baptism Site, to be built on land donated by His Majesty King Abdullah. Williams is expected to hold a mass at the Baptism Site for delegates from the Anglican Church across the Kingdom. On Saturday morning, the archbishop will visit the Jofah Community Rehabilitation Centre, which is affiliated with the Episcopal Church. The archbishop will head to Jerusalem on Sunday, the statement added.
