Abu Dhabi, June 24th, 2007(WAM)-- In line with its aspirationsand strategy, Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage plans to launchthe "Arabic Oud House" under its wing and supervision. This is a culturalproject that aims to promote traditions of lute performance. This, instrumenthas always been associated with Arabic Music and its development. Thehouse is going to be the first one in the region where musicians focuson one instrument as well as approaches and methods of playing it.
The aim of the Arabic Oud House is to disseminate music awarenessin the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in particular and the UAE in general, andto highlight the significance of lute as an important and integral instrumentof Arabic music.It also aims to teach techniques of lute playing and facilitateapproaching various lute schools and trends. This will evidently leadto having a new generation of professional musicians in the UAE and creatinga musical nucleus of local ensemble to participate in musical festivalsin the country and abroad.
As for Curriculum, it comprises theoretical and practical coursesteaching other musical insruments such as Qanoon, Buzuq, Mandolin andBuzuki.
