KUWAIT -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's address to the nation on Tuesday drew wide media coverage on Wednesday.
Daily Al-Anbaa used its editorial to say that the Amiri speech was a reading and delicate diagnosis for the state of political movement that had lately swept the country.
The paper called on citizens to be aware of the warnings by His Highness the Amir concerning the dangers of sedition and to use the words of the Amir as guidelines for national unity.
Al-Watan renewed allegiance to His Highness the Amir, noting that all should be "touched" by the words the Amir included in his address.
In his speech to the nation, His Highness the Amir stressed that Kuwait's national security and stability is a top priority for the country and called for translating words of loyalty to the nation into tangible action, Al-Watan added.
The paper expressed pride that the Amir showed no despair over "the unacceptable recent practices and phrases by some, which serve none, but only undermine Kuwait's national constants and social fabric.
Daily Awan, on its part, focused on the Amir's urgent call on citizens to live up to responsibility by means of meeting internal and external challenges in a swiftly developing world.
Awan said the Amir was right in saying that the Kuwaiti constitution ensures the freedom of expression and speech, and correct parliamentary practices, leading up to the fulfillment of the public interest.
The Amir warned citizens that all are on the same boat " which can sail to shores of safety only when hearts and hands are united and feelings of amity and cooperation are prevalent in the spirit of one family," Awan wrote.
Meanwhile, daily Al-Sabah used its editorial to call on citizens to show their loyalty to the homeland, quoting His Highness as saying, "We, in this country, firmly believe in the constitutional principles that should deepen sound practices through constitutional tools and under the dome of the National Assembly, rather than through stirring up sentiment and using sensationalism, intimidation, and skepticism via speeches and diverse mass media."
