MUSCAT -- In just over two weeks, a batch of around 25-30 senior-level management professionals representing a number of government, public and private sector organisations in the Sultanate, will be leaving for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to attend what is hailed as a 'game-changing' Executive Leadership Development Programme. Organised by the Studies and Research Centre of Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising (OEPPA) -- publishers of Oman Daily Observer and Oman Arabic daily -- the fortnight-long course will run from November 7 to 21. Titled 'Shaping Ethical Leaders to Create Breakthrough Growth', the programme has been put together by the centre in line with its mandate to support the development of the Sultanate's human capital.
"We are extremely proud to have organised this well-structured training course for top management executives in collaboration with our partners in Malaysia. Programmes of this nature help foster the skills and confidence of management professionals preparing to assume top leadership positions within their organisations," said Dr Ibrahim bin Ahmed al Kindi, Chief Executive Officer, OEPPA. The programme stems from the recommendations of two groundbreaking seminars organised by the centre over the past year. Focusing on the themes, 'Strategic Growth Planning and Change Management' and 'Work Ethics to Improve Performance and Productivity', the forums emphasised the need for, among other things, the grooming of a new generation of corporate leaders with the skills to achieve breakthrough growth in their respective organisations.
Delegates also underlined the importance of custom-designed training initiatives that help equip top-level executives and subordinate managers with the requisite understanding and insights to overcome workplace hurdles pertaining to productivity and work ethics. The need of the hour, they stressed, was to develop leaders who can lead change within their organisations, Dr Al Kindi explained. Towards this end, the Studies and Research Centre has partnered with the UCSI Leadership Development Centre, one of Malaysia's most reputable leadership training institutions, to customise a course that develops leaders who can raise the bar and lift their organisations to a new level of breakthrough growth. "This is a two-part programme consisting of developing the 'Inside Leadership' and 'Outside Leadership' of the participants," says Project Leader Dr Peter Ting, a Professional Trainer and Holistic Leadership Life Coach. "With 'Inside Leadership', we are concerned with developing the required character, mindset, and qualities of a leader that will bring about sustainable growth with significance legacy.
On the other hand, with 'Outside Leadership', we are concerned with skills and competencies needed for the leader to carry out his/her vision effectively by developing the people or leaders around him." Dr Ting has assembled a team of 13 course facilitators chosen on the basis of their proven track records in strategic leadership positions, and are regional experts in their chosen fields. Most of them are CEOs of their own businesses. They are also seasoned speakers and leadership trainers for their own organisations and other corporate clients. Underscoring its holistic approach to leadership training, the UCSI Leadership Development Centre has crafted a programme that blends learning through interactive workshops and industrial visits, and balanced with tours and recreation to enhance learning. There will also be ample opportunities for cross learning from other leaders and also networking with each other, says Dr Ting.
Importantly, the UCSI Leadership Development Centre and its panel of leadership experts have also pledged to continue working with the participants to help develop their respective Organisational Leadership Development Blueprints that will bring about sustainable growth. Additionally, enrollees will be able to tap into the regional network of leadership experts, as well as with other workshop leadership participants to explore future business collaboration opportunities.
