The Department of Tourism Development in Ajman aims to raise the number of hotel guests to some 700,000 annually, and booking approximately 2.2 million guest hotel nights by 2019, an increase of 64 per cent, a media report said.

The department also seeks to boost the emirate’s hotel occupancy rate of 80 per cent by 2021 to meet the goals of Ajman Vision 2021, reported Emirates news agency Wam.

Saleh Al Jeziry, director-general of the Department, stressed that the department’s plan includes updating its administrative procedures and reinforcing its cooperation with government authorities and private sector partners, as well as intensifying its tourism campaigns that aim to promote the emirate’s tourism attractions and advanced infrastructure by following an innovative year-round marketing strategy.

Al Jeziry said that the department will also present its plans to promote the emirate’s tourism, sports and entertainment activities, as well as to develop the local tourism sector.

He noted that the overall capacity of Ajman’s 38 hotels at the end of March 2018 was 3,666 rooms, a growth of 10 per cent compared to March 2017, when the total number of rooms was 3,333.

The department is continuing to work with investors in various sectors and provide incentives and opportunities through participating in local and international meetings and tourism fairs, he added.
