Ajman, Aug 12th, 2008 (WAM): HH Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, crown prince of Ajman witnessed on Monday, the launching of the unified broadcast of 'Azan'(call for prayer) in the emirate.

The programme ensures that live 'Azan' is transmitted via satellite to all mosques at the same time, thus unifying the call for prayer from a single source.

For Muslims, there are five prayer times in a day, performed at daybreak, noon, late afternoon, sunset and evening respectively. Call for prayers were raised in each mosque by individual announcers, but the new programme unifies the process by broadcasting from a single mosque a live Azan, which is simultaneously transmitted through other mosques in the emirate.

Sheikh Ammar hailed the launching of the programme and stressed the need for using new technology in the service of religion.
