MUSCAT -- Air India (formerly Indian Airlines) honoured its top performing agents at an Agents Award Function held at Grand Hyatt Muscat on Wednesday. The Chief Guest for the function was Abhay Pathak, Regional Manager (Middle East & Africa). The agents who were honoured at the Award Presentation Ceremony were Bahwan Travel Agencies LLC, Travel City, Oman United Agencies LLC, Majan International Agencies Travel & Tourism LLC, Al Hashar Tourism & Travels, Abu Anwar Travel Agencies, Marmul Travels & Tours LLC, Dubai Travels, Moon Travels LLC, Shanfari Travel & Tourism LLC, Omani Travel & Tourism Bureau LLC, Eihab Travels LLC, Zahara Travel and Service Bureau LLC, Universal Travel & Tourism Agencies LLC, Mezoon Travel LLC.
National Travel & Tourism, GSA for Air India in Oman, also received a special award for their excellent support and services to Air India. The awards were presented by Abhay Pathak and Aditya Mathur, Country Manager -- Oman. Aprameya Mukherjee, Deputy General Manager of National Travel & Tourism was also present along with them. Airport Manager R Prabhakar and S K.Malhotra, Accounts Manager gave the Vote of Thanks. Master of Ceremony was Namita Pednekar, Finance Manager, Air India. A recorded video message of Indian Ambassador Anil Wadhwa was also played. In his message the Ambassador lauded the role the Air India and the travel agents in Oman.
The Ambassador mentioned the human dimension of Air India. In his speech, Aditya Mathur said the travel industry was going through a challenging phase throughout the world and Oman was no exception. Mathur also said that low fares continued throughout the year. Pathak talked about the slowdown of the growth process and was positive about the future. Mukherjee, Deputy General Manager of National Travel & Tourism, GSA of Air India, said that the journey with IC has been very exciting. Mukherjee also lauded the progress of IC in the last three years during Aditya Mathur's tenure in Oman. A small cultural programme was also held with little children performing folk dances. A famous poet from India, Dinesh Raghuvanshi and stand-up comedian Aman Srivastava enthralled the audience with poetry and laughter.
