ABU DHABI, 18th December 2013 (WAM) -- Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), a leading shipbuilder and naval support provider in the Gulf region and Navantia, the Spanish state-owned company which specialises in design, construction, integration and life cycle support of naval vessels, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the identification and management of future business opportunities for ship building and services related projects for the U.A.E. Navy and other Gulf countries.
This agreement includes collaboration in the following areas: Through-Life Support; Platform Systems integration; Procurement Management; Operational and Maintenance Training; Transfer of Technology. The MoU was signed by ADSB Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Khaled Al Mazroui, and the Commercial Vice-President of Navantia, Gonzalo Mateo-Guerrero and took place at ADSB headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The aim of this MoU is to support and optimize naval ship building, maintenance, repair and refit activities for the U.A.E. Navy. ADSB is also keen to look outside the U.A.E. borders and provide similar solutions to complex naval fleets across the Gulf region. This MoU is to be considered as a preliminary understanding for future agreements for naval projects in the U.A.E. and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries, and strengthens the industrial capabilities of the U.A.E. in the defense services sector. The cooperation will also provide an opportunity for ADSB and Navantia to demonstrate their joint expertise, with a vision to develop a long term relationship with major navies of the region.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2013.
