Amman, (SANA)-King Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday received a verbal message from President Bashar al-Assad on bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian lands.
The message was conveyed by Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem during a meeting with King Abdullah II in Amman.
Minister al-Moallem earlier held talks with Jordanian Premier Nader al-Zahabi. During the meeting, both sides exchanged viewpoints regarding developments in the region in addition to bilateral ties between the two countries and procedures adopted to convene meetings of the Syrian-Jordanian Higher committee before the end of this year.
Jordanian Prime Minister expressed satisfaction of the level that Syrian-Jordanian ties have reached, underlining commitment to boost relations in the interests of the two states and peoples.
Foreign Minister also held talks with Jordanian counterpart Salah al-Din al-Basher dealing with means of developing and enhancing bilateral ties between both countries, exchanging viewpoints on different regional and international issues.
Before leaving Amman, Minister al-Moallem said in a statement to reporters that he conveyed a verbal message from President al-Assad to King Abdullah II regarding bilateral ties in all domains and ways of boosting Arab solidarity. Al-Moallem described talks held in Amman as positive and constructive, saying "we hope this consultation continues between the two leaderships."
For his part, Jordanian Foreign Minister pointed out to the importance of Syrian-Jordanian summit held lately in Damascus and cooperation in the fields of water, industry, and trade, stressing 'his country's commitment to find an Arab unified stance towards issues the region is suffering from'.
Al-Moallem arrived in Amman Sunday on a visit to Jordan during which he held talks on developments in the Middle East and means of strengthening bilateral ties.
