Damascus - The 9th Annual Conference of the Arabic Language Academy continued activities on Monday at the Arabic Language Academy in Damascus, holding an evening session on characteristics of scientific writing in Arabic language.
Vice Chairman of the Arabic Language Academy Mahmoud al-Sayyed said that scientific writing should be clear because the purpose of it is to explain or convey different issues, and that requires a straightforward and clear language.
Al-Sayyed added that capability of Arabic in writing scientific scripts affirms its potentials in expressing the accurate concepts in the different fields.
Al-Sayyed provided several recommendations aimed at promoting Arabic language through training to use it in an early age, apply the most common idioms, enhance the works of the Arab Center for Arabization, Translation, Authorship and Publication in translating the most important books worldwide.
He also called for activating translation, particularly translating the scientific terms.
Mariam Khir Bek stressed the importance of children's Arabic language, adding that Arab children are living in dual-accent environment which contains the classical and colloquial Arabic language.
Khir Bek called for using classical Arabic on all Arab T.V channels and radios and establishing an Arab center for Arabization that includes experts from all the Arab countries.
For his part, Dr. Ahmad Sheikh al-Saroujah of Jordan spoke about benefits of translation because it enables translators to acknowledge scientific terms, improve their skills and ability to write and master Arabic language in addition to ability to deal with Arabic and foreign languages.
