Dubai Jeep and Chrysler Middle East will recall 600 Jeep models from 2008 to repair potential defects in their gearboxes.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Economy's Department of Consumer Protection, Chrysler Group International has announced a free service check for 2008 Jeep Wrangler (automatic transmission) owners.
The service check seeks to test the automatic transmission ?uid which in some of the vehicles may overheat under extreme driving conditions, causing the ?uid to boil over, according to a safety recall statement issued by Jeep and Chrysler Middle East.
"Although a very limited number of 2008 Jeep Wranglers [automatic transmission] may be affected, Chrysler International, to ensure the safety of its customers, will inspect all 2008 Jeep Wranglers [automatic transmission] and carry out any necessary rectification work completely free of charge," the statement said.
This service check will be carried out by authorised Jeep agents in the UAE. Outlets include Western Motors (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain) and Trading Enterprises (Dubai and Northern Emirates).
According to the statement if there is a defect, the work which involves a minor re-programming of the relevant module should take a maximum of an hour to complete. No parts are required to be replaced.
