Abu Dhabi Officers from the Ministry of Interior arrested 166 people in different emirates on charge of entering and staying in the country illegally.

A total of 58 people were arrested in Abu Dhabi, 72 in Al Ain and 36 in Sharjah for illegally entering the country. All those arrested are from Asia and Africa.

Out of the 58 who were apprehended in Abu Dhabi, 52 women and two men had absconded from their sponsors. Four people were arrested for either harbouring the illegal immigrants or helping them to enter the country.

Campaign

“The campaign is part of an ongoing effort to arrest violators of immigration and residency laws, and will continue to be carried out throughout the country,” said Major General Naser Al Menhali, Assistant Under Secretary for Naturalisation, Residence and Ports.
