Dubai, 12th Feb. 2012 (WAM) -- The National Nursing Emiratization Committee ofthe UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council held its first meeting todayrday at Al Baraha Hospital.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Amina Al Marzouqi, Health Affairs Advisor at the Ministry of Health and Head of the nursing development committee, welcomed the members and stressed the importance of encouraging the nursing profession reassuring that nursing is a humanitarian job in all medical and health practices and requires the development of all their human resources. Furthermore, Dr. Fatima Al Rifaei, Director of Nursing Central Administration Department at the Ministry of Health and member of the UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council, gave a presentation about the goals, objectives and views of the council as well its role in raising the profession. She also displayed the initiatives and future plans of the council to encourage and enhance the skills of national human resources in this field. The committee invited all committee members to activate their role in terms of developing new ideas and initiatives to support the Emiratization of the nursing field. They also highlighted the humanitarian goals and objectives of the nursing profession and its importance for the health sector, community members and countries. The committee encouraged all media members to adopt true stories about the nursing human resources and their role in the health sector as basic corner stone elements in the medical and health practices sector. The nursing Emiratization committee aims for attracting national human resources to work in the nursing and midwifery fields, enhance their roles and support the nursing profession by all means and ways. The committee also seeks for providing an attractive employment environment for UAE nationals and encourage them admit to the nursing specialization in UAE universities. It is noted that the UAE Nursing and Midwifery Council formed the committee to include representatives from the nursing authorities, healthcare providers, academia, and public and private health authorities to put the scientific streamlines and areas of specialization and set up the recommendations towards achieving the goals. The committee will also develop the strategic outcomes of nursing and midwifery Emiratization and ways of cooperation and coordination with all health competent authorities. The strategy highlights the opportunities of employing UAE nationals in the nursing and midwifery profession, encouraging national human resources to work in the nursing and midwifery field and prevent the leakage of UAE nationals from the nursing colleges and profession. "Our strategy will also develop and set up programs and strategies to keep UAE national nurses and midwives, organize a forum for UAE national nurses and midwives in cooperation with competent health authorities and educational institutes. The UAE nursing Emiratization committee will also provide guidance to the health policy decision makers and organize a series of workshops and seminars, researches and studies about eEmiratization", Al Rifaei emphasized. It is noted that the percentage of UAE national nurses in the UAE represents 40% only of the total numbers of nurses in the health facilities in the UAE. As for the Ministry of Health, the percentage reached 8% through encouraging UAE nationals to admit to the UAE universities and colleges.
