Increase in overseas exhibitors and international conference speakers at FM Expo UAE seen as beacon for facilities management industry

The fourth FM Expo, the Middle East's leading facilities management event, has attracted nearly double the number of international exhibitors than prior events to make it a showcase for the latest international FM technology, products and solutions.

UK companies are among those international exhibitors out in greater force at this year's event. Not only are there 40% additional companies involved, but they have taken more than double the stand space to emphasise their commitment to doing long-term business in the area.

"As the global recession starts to affect international markets, the UAE FM sector, given the number of new buildings and those in the pipeline, represents a potentially vibrant market," said Louisa Theobald, Group Exhibitions Director of Streamline Marketing Group, organisers of FM Expo and the Property & FM Conference & Workshop.

"The success of last year's event certainly convinced these international companies that FM in the region is buoyant. Their greater presence now illustrates the fact that they want to get a foothold here for the long term and that FM Expo is now a truly international exhibition attracting top international players and global speakers," she added.

Last year, 62 Gulf and international companies exhibited; this year, so far, more than 80 companies have committed to the show with nearly 50% more exhibition space being sold compared to this time last year

In addition to the UK, there are more international exhibitors including those from Germany, Spain, Malaysia and India.

FM Expo is taking place at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre on 24-26 May 2009 while the Property & FM conference and workshop runs 24-28 May at the Al Murooj Rotana Hotel, Dubai.

The conference has attracted an enviable line-up of international speakers including Stan Mitchell, CEO, Key Facilities Management International, UK and Founding Chairman Global Facility Management Association, Michael Johnson, Managing Director Mass UK, and Jim Whittaker, President, Facility Engineering Associates, USA.

"The FM market is expected to grow to be worth an estimated $704 billion over the next 25 years. FM Expo can only keep on growing and become an even more valuable networking event and a source for internationally-recognised solutions," she commented.

To enable the FM industry to play an effective role going forward, the FM conference looks at sustainability, human resources, and cost issues and highlights the need for FM to add value in a cost-cutting climate, risk assessment and management, best procurement practices and the growing need to be able to offer integrated FM.

Platinum sponsor for the FM Expo 2009 event is Etisalat Facilities Management, which is also supporting the conference.
