Abu Dhabi: The UAE’s Ministry of Economy is aiming to boost its efforts towards increasing the country’s international exposure in trade, and is in discussions with local free zones on how to enhance the business environment.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry said its representatives recently met with several Free Zones to strengthen partnerships and mutual cooperation. The participants exchanged views on foreign events and participations to ensure unified efforts towards maximising the country’s international exposure.

Mohammed Al Zaabi, director of Trade Promotion and Investment Department, said that the discussion is part of a series of ongoing meetings organised by the department with its partners from the public and private sectors.

He said the gatherings aim to raise the level of coordination, review the promotion management plan, and share ideas on areas of future cooperation in foreign events.

Al Zaabi added that the free zones represent some of the ministry’s most important partners, as they are major economic contributors to the country. He pointed out that many of the country’s free zones are regarded as among the best in the world due to their efficiency and global economic impact.

The meeting was attended by officials from Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority — Twofour54, and Dubai International Financial Centre Authority, among others.
