ABU DHABI, 23rd May, 2016 (WAM) -- The Central Bank of the UAE announced today that Abdulrahim Mohammed Al Awadhi, Executive Director of Anti-Money Laundering and Suspicious Cases Unit, AMLSCU, of the UAE, and Talal Ali Al Sayegh, President of the Kuwait Financial Intelligence Unit and Chairman of National Committee of Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, on Sunday, following a meeting at the Head office of the Central Bank of the UAE in Abu Dhabi to discuss matters of mutual interest.

The MoU covers mutual cooperation in different areas that are of interest to both parties regarding financial information related to money laundering and the financing of terrorism in order to support, enhance and strengthen policies of combating the issue.

With the signing of this MoU, the total number of MoUs signed by AMLSCU has reached 52; 43 with its strategic international and regional counterparts and 9 with domestic strategic partners.

This demonstrates the UAEs commitment to continuing cooperation with the international community, and with international, regional, and domestic strategic partners to coordinate the efforts on countering money laundering, financing of terrorism and related crimes.
