RIYADH: Stepping up cooperation with educational institutions in the Kingdom offering courses in tourism administration, the National Center for Human Resources Development (Takamul) is training nationals for efficient management and operation in the tourism sector.

To this end, Takamul director general Nasir Al-Nashmi, director for training Ibrahim Al-Greni and Takamul representative at the Makkah branch of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) Moneer Al Otaibi visited a tourism institute at the King Abdul Aziz University and the College of Technology in Makkah. "The visit comes within the plans of SCTNH to support the training of national cadres for the management and operation of the tourism sector and to activate the program of cooperation between the commission, and tourism education and training segments in government as well as the private sector," said an SCTNH spokesman said on Thursday.

"They also visited a number of private tourism educational and training institutes in Makkah province to check on their readiness and plans to receive trainees from diverse tourism professions for efficient management and operations in the sector," he added. Takamul, in collaboration with specialized authorities from the public and private sectors, besides national and international training firms specialized in setting up professional standards and training portfolios for the tourism, travel, entertainment professions, is working to integrate and standardize tourism education and training programs.

Official field visits to tourist education and training facilities aim to emphasize the approach adopted by SCTNH in dealing with its partners. "The aim in the first place is to evolve training outputs and improve the tourism education and training environment in general," the official said. Earlier, Al-Nashmi, during his visit to the institutes, emphasized the importance raising the level of training through methods supported by field trips. He also referred to the directives of Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of SCTNH, who emphasizes the importance of trained cadre from the training and education facilities catering to the requirements of the labor market with high quality and efficiency.

He also stressed the great attention paid by the SCTNH president toward the development of tourism human resources to be the backbone of the national tourism development and tourist sectors, and the process of partnership and strengthening of relations between the commission, and different educational and training facilities.
