Dubai, UAE - Leading Middle East insurance players were recognised at last night's 8th Annual INSUREX Awards ceremony. Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Industry, U.A.E and organised by POLICY magazine, INSUREX 2011 conference concluded its first day with a gala event to celebrate excellence across 14 categories, with votes cast by an acclaimed international panel of experts.
Over 200 regional delegates were present at The Address, Dubai Marina, to see Walid Sidini, CEO of Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC), be presented with the title of 'Achievement Award of the Year', in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the success of the insurance industry.
RSA Insurance celebrated twice, scooping the title of 'Insurer of the Year', in addition to 'Takaful Operator of the Year'. DAMAN insurance took home a trio of awards, including; Corporate Social Responsibility Award, Public Awareness Campaign of the Year and the E-Business Award.
All registered companies within the GCC, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iran were eligible to enter the awards which took place as part of one of the MENA region's largest insurance forums that explores a range of strategic and operational concerns across the insurance industry.

Programme highlights across the two day INSUREX forum include; a panel discussion and session on reformation of the market and potential to cater for sophisticated and innovative solutions; a panel discussion on private pension provision and reformation of the market to create multi-pillar pension provision; a panel session on regulatory challenges and the need for risk based prudential regulation and mandatory healthcare framework; a panel discussion on the challenges in regards to the healthcare industry in MENA region health care Vs managed care challenges; and speech sessions on topics such as technology and growth strategy.
