Doha - Qatar Shell announced today that it has awarded a five-year contract to Hertel for scaffolding, insulation, painting and refractory (SIPR) services to the Pearl Gas to Liquids (GTL) plant.

The official contract signing ceremony, held at Qatar Shell’s offices in Doha, was attended by Mark Pattenden, Vice President of Pearl GTL; and Nick Morgan, Regional Managing Director for Hertel.

Pattenden congratulated Hertel on their success, and commented: “We look forward to the services provided by Hertel and are confident in their ability to deliver the contract safely and successfully to help ensure the proper maintenance of our plant.”

Morgan said: “We would like to thank all involved in the contract award. We see the contract as a major opportunity to strengthen our position here in Qatar and to develop our relationship with Shell and Qatar Petroleum on a global level.”

Developed in partnership between Qatar Petroleum and Shell, Pearl GTL converts natural gas into a range of high-performing GTL products: from gasoil, kerosene and base oil to naphtha and normal paraffins for the petrochemicals industry. Pearl GTL is located in Ras Laffan Industrial City and made its first commercial shipment in June 2011.
