DOHA - QInvest has appointed Shahzad Shahbaz as CEO of the Qatar Financial Centre Authority-licensed 'Category 1' investment bank.
Commenting on the appointment, the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and QInvest Chairman H E Sheikh Jassem bin Hamad bin Jabor Al Thani, said: "This appointment is in line with our plans to create a world-class investment banking firm, focused on a wide range of activities, primarily in the high-growth markets of the Middle East, Asia and Africa. We are pleased to appoint Shahbaz who has wide experience and a proven track record in building new businesses." A 25-year veteran of the Bank of America, Shahbaz joins QInvest from Emirates NBD Group where he was CEO of the Investment Bank. He joined the predecessor NBD group in July 2006 as CEO of NBD Investment Bank and successfully established a regional investment banking, asset management and private equity business.
Prior to leaving Bank of America, he was head of its regional investment banking platform for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
