Government spokesman Iyad Dahmani said, on Wednesday during a press conference in the Kasbah palace, that Petrofac company sent a letter to the government in which it claims to have started the procedures to leave Tunisia.

The company has already suspended the wages of the employees and the activities in the oil fields.

For his part, Minister of Social Affairs Mohamed Trabelsi said the government has exhausted all means of negotiation with the protesters.

The government, he added, developed a roadmap for finding solutions to the crisis of Petrofac but was "shocked" by the protesters' refusal to dialogue.

He further said that the government has yet proposed "reasonable" solutions approved by the social partners. Solutions, according to the Minister, that meet the needs of the local people.
