"Opportunities in the Libyan Healthcare Sector Seminar" given at Raffles Hotel on May 15, 2012

A high ranking delegation of the Libyan Ministry of Health visited Dubai from May 14 to 15 to raise awareness about the current status of the Libyan Healthcare Sector and to engage in an ongoing dialogue with institutions and companies from the healthcare sector in the UAE. The delegation is also promoting the 9th Libyan Healthcare Exhibition which takes place in Tripoli in September as a further platform of dialogue. The visit in Dubai was the first stop of a tour by the delegation which is currently continued in Istanbul, Turkey.

The delegation is headed by the Libyan Deputy Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Omran Turbi and comprises the Ministry's Head of Medical Exhibitions Dr. Amal Naagi, the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Ashraf Shembesh as well as the Director of Media Relations, Dr. Fauzia Tushani.

Supported by the Dubai Healthcare City the delegation gave a seminar on "Opportunities in the Libyan Healthcare Sector" which was followed by Q&A session during which the delegation spoke about the revolution's impact on healthcare services in Libya as well as the urgent requirements to re-build it now.

Dr. Easa AL Mansoori, the Director of International Organizations of the UAE Ministry of Health welcomed the delegation at the seminar and reiterated the Ministry's commitment and support for their Libyan brothers and sisters.

The seminar was further attended by Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, Managing Director of DHCC who extended her best wishes for the delegation and expressed her delight to welcome the delegation in the Dubai Healthcare City. DHCC who was a Supporting Partner of the seminar organization later hosted the delegation for a tour of Healthcare City, during which the history, vision and achievements of Dubai's healthcare freezone were highlighted.

The delegation is currently in Istanbul where another seminar and meetings with Turkey's Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the Healthcare Association (IKMIB) are scheduled.
