Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, has been awarded the prestigious 'Golden Friends of India Award' by the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) at an award ceremony at the Oberoi Hotel in Dubai on Sunday January 25, 2015 - the 66th Republic Day of India.

The award was presented by His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development in the presence of members of the royal family and other senior Emirati dignitaries, diplomats and members of the Indian community.

Accepting the award on Mr. Al Habtoor's behalf was his youngest son Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO of Al Habtoor Motors.

Mr. Al Habtoor was the first ever recipient of this award. The 'Golden Friends of India Award' was given in recognition of his commitment to Indian-UAE economic and investment practices.

Khalaf Al Habtoor said, "It was an honour to receive this award from the IBPC. India is very important to the UAE; we have a strong history together and there are a lot of Indian expatriates living and working here."

The IBPC (Dubai) is one of the only recognised bodies of Indian businessmen and professionals under the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry.  It acts as a catalyst to boost the Indian-UAE economic, trade and investment relationships.
