GAZA, 29th September, 2015 (WAM) -- Israeli authorities reopened the Karam Abu Salem crossing into the Gaza Strip on Tuesday after a seven-day closure due to holidays.

According to a report carried by the Qatar News Agency, QNA, Raed Fattouh, the Palestinian official responsible for the entry of goods into Gaza, said that Israeli authorities had reopened the crossing allowing 900 trucks carrying aid, as well as commercial and agricultural goods, to enter Gaza.

Fattouh said that 218 trucks were carrying constructions materials for international projects, while 150 were carrying gravel for infrastructure projects aimed at improving Gazan roads. He added that amounts of gasoline, diesel and cooking gas will also be pumped into the coastal enclave.

Karam Abu Salem is the only commercial crossing through which the Israeli authorities allow the entry of commodities to Gaza. The terminal is closed on Fridays and Saturdays as well as during the Jewish holidays.
