Tehran, July 28, IRNA - At least four new power plants will be built in Iran over the next ten years, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi was quoted as saying on Tuesday by MP Nozar Shafiei.

Shafiei, the rapporteur of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said that Salehi made the remarks when he attended a commission session to brief the lawmakers on technical aspects of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached between Iran and the six world powers on July 14.

In the Majlis briefing, Salehi said that AEOI experts acted mightily in the nuclear talks.

Salehi said that Iran's nuclear program is completely peaceful. However, he noted that in order to make further progress in peaceful nuclear technology, Iran has to cooperate with the world and the JCPOA provides an opportunity in this regard.

Nearly 60% of the Iranian soil has been explored for uranium resources and Iran is going to explore the remaining 40% of the country looking for the mineral, Salehi said.

Salehi noted that the restrictions on Iran's nuclear program will not hamper the country's nuclear activities, rather they will, in different ways, accelerate the progress of Iran's nuclear work.

The AEOI chief said that one of the main technical achievements of Iranian experts in nuclear negotiations was Iran's entry to the international nuclear fuel bank so that it can now produce enriched uranium and sell it as well.

In return for the sold enriched uranium, Iran can import natural uranium, Salehi said.
