RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, March 12, 2011 - Ford Middle East and Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co, the Ford and Lincoln importer-dealer in the Kingdom, are announcing two service campaigns involving some 2005-2006 and 2009-2010 model year F-150 trucks.
On some of the 2005-2006 F-150 trucks built at the Norfolk Assembly Plant from November 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005, it may be possible for the clockspring to driver side frontal air bag wire harness to chafe on the horn mounting plate. This could cause the airbag warning lamp to illuminate in the cluster indicating service is required. This chafing may cause the driver side frontal airbag to inadvertently deploy which presents a risk of injury or loss of vehicle control. There are about 20 vehicles included in this campaign in Saudi Arabia.
Separately, in some 2009 and 2010 F-150 models equipped with chrome interior door handles, the springs holding each interior side door handle in place may lose tension, resulting in the handles not fully returning to the closed position which could potentially allow the door to open, increasing the risk of injury to an occupant. Approximately 415 vehicles are estimated to be included in this campaign in Saudi Arabia.
"We at Ford are determined to maintain the quality and integrity of our products, and as always, the safety and satisfaction of our customers is our top priority," said Chris Noel, Ford Middle East's Regional Customer Services director. "Our dealers will contact owners to arrange for these repairs. In the mean time, we ask our customers to never ignore their airbag warning lamp and bring their vehicle in to the nearest Ford dealership as soon as they see the warning light is on. We also request owners of 2009 and 2010 F-150 models to contact their dealership if the interior chrome door handle on their vehicle fails to return fully to the closed position after activation."
Owners of vehicles listed above in Saudi Arabia are requested to contact Al Jazirah Vehicles Agencies Co on telephone number 920025678 and make an appointment for their vehicle's inspection. Repairs will be performed free of charge. For more information, customers may also write to Ford Middle East's Customer Assistance Center at menacac@ford.com.
