Iran's International Commercial Exhibition inaugurated at Koh-e-Barbod in Dushanbe on Thursday in a ceremony attended by the Iranian and Tajik officials.

An Iranian marketing company with the assistance of Tajikistan's Chamber of commerce is the organizer of the exhibition, Mehr News Agency reported.

Addressing the gathering, head of the Iranian marketing company, Mohammad Omrani said that the event seeks to develop cooperation between the two countries.

He also noted that his company has so far paved the ground for organizing several exhibits of Iranian goods in Algeria, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

Drawing the attention of the Iranian investors to the Tajik markets and creating new job opportunities in the country are among the other objectives of the exhibition, he said, noting, "We wish to help our Tajik brothers to be among the progressive nations in the region."

Stating that commercial exchanges of the two countries have increased by 60 percent last year, Omrani added that some 160 agreements in various cultural, social, and economical fields have so far been signed between the two countries.

Some 15 Iranian and seven joint Iranian-Tajik companies have put on display their latest achievements in the fields of agriculture, handicrafts, petrochemical, pastries, carpets, construction materials and pharmaceuticals, he said.

The exhibition will run until March 8.
