After a rather challenging period for the petroleum industry; low crude price and economic slowdown in certain key regions, the industry is looking how best to adapt to these new conditions and plan for the future. The 3rd Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference will give oil refiners a platform to discuss optimum technical solutions for the future of residue upgrading in refineries.

The conference and exhibition will take place on 26 & 27 October in Bahrain under the Patronage of His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa Minister of Oil, Kingdom of Bahrain.

Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) is the strategic partner for the event and Mr Hafedh Al-Qassab, General Manager Refining says why this topic is important to BAPCO, “We are pleased to support BBTC as it is held in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the first time.  This forum is important for our industry, and for BAPCO, as we try and squeeze more value out of each barrel of crude, and there is a lot of focus on improving profitability through upgrade of bottom of the barrel into white products”.

The National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) added that they are “happy to support the BBTC Middle East & Africa 2016, which brings together the best of scientific advances in the field of Bottom of the Barrel Technology through this specialist oil industry event and within reach of professionals in the region while providing networking opportunities among peers.”

Stefan Chapman, vice president of the organising company Euro Petroleum Consultants, expresses his gratitude for the support shown to the conference saying “we are honoured and grateful for the backing and support BBTC has received in Bahrain especially from BAPCO and the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA). BBTC is the only event that focuses on technologies, project trends, catalyst and equipment innovations as residue upgrading becomes increasingly important to our industry. We look forward to welcoming the key players from the region’s refining sector to the conference.”
