ABU DHABI, 14th May, 2017 (WAM) -- Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, and Abu Dhabi Education Council, ADEC, have launched the fourth edition of the 'ADEC Students Showcase' at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. Running from the 14th to 20th May, the joint exhibition aims to promote creativity and artistic innovation, as well as inspire young, talented students from across the UAE.

The ADEC Students Showcase is the latest milestone of the joint TCA Abu Dhabi and ADEC Talent Development Programme initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, which aims to identify future talents to fulfil the joint objectives of developing an artistic capital in the emirate.

The artworks exhibition highlights the cultural and aesthetic diversity of cultural heritage through a collection of more than 1,000 art pieces, created during the first and second visual arts workshops of the Abu Dhabi Education Council. The students artworks are inspired by elements of Abu Dhabis cultural heritage, from the historic sites of Al Ain to the historic forts of Liwa to the Guggenheim Abu Dhabis exhibition, 'The Creative Act: Performance, Process, Presence'.

In a press statement on the launch of the exhibition, Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director-General TCA Abu Dhabi, said, "By exhibiting the artworks of students, we aim to nurture the students artistic talents and encourage them to develop their passion for the arts. Our role is to support them in developing their competencies and understanding their cultural heritage and to preserve and promote it through the language of arts." Dr. Karima Al-Mazroui, Advisor to ADECs Director-General and Acting P-12 Executive Director, said, "We are proud of our students creativity in the visual arts, which is inspired by the UAE local heritage, Guggenheim collections, and the Emirati art experts workshops, which has added tremendous value to our students arts exposure this academic year.""The exhibition is an educational and cultural platform that enhances a students artistic awareness, provides an opportunity to discover promising talent, and fosters positive attitudes towards the status of art and its place within the cultural and social fabric of the UAE," Al-Mazroui added.
