Doha - Canadian Minister of International Trade Chrystia Freeland praised the trade and economic ties between Jordan and Canada.

In an interview with Petra during her recent visit to Doha, the minister said her country is interested in enhancing trade partnership with Jordan, pointing to the promising opportunities for join investment.

She highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation in the health care field, adding that both Jordan and Canada have major expertise in this domain and this qualified them to work in this vital sector.

Freeland pointed to Canadian companies that seek to expand their presence in the region in the fields of infrastructure, industry, engineering consultancy and others.

She described cooperation between the private sector form both countries as strong and successful, noting that both sides have been working together for long years.

The minister also praised Jordan's investment climate and said this attracts companies, businessmen, investors and capitals from all over the world.

Jordan and Canada signed a free trade agreement that entered into force in 2012, but trade exchange is still low as it does not exceed $130 million annually.
