ABU DHABI, 19th February, 2017 (WAM) -- DRS Technologies Inc. announced today it has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quality contract, IDIQ, worth up to US$22 million by the US Navy for updated communications systems that allow ship commanders to securely share real-time tactical data.

The initial five-year contract for the Link-11/Link-22 tactical data system is worth $9.3 million, with a second five-year option that could bring the total to $22 million, the company announced on the first day of IDEX 2017, which opened today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Aaron Hankins, Vice President of DRS' Advance Intelligence, Reconnaissance and Surveillance business unit, said, "This award continues a long relationship between the US Navy and DRS Technologies in the design, development, fielding, and sustainment of Link-11 and now Link-22 systems.""This solution also provides the ability to conduct field maintenance activities and system upgrades without returning the unit to a depot facility, saving time and money," he added.
