  • Salaam Gateway was at the 5th Ethical Finance Innovation Challenge & Awards in Dubai on Wednesday when three finalists pitched innovative ethical financial solutions in front of a packed room of industry peers. The finalists were a Somalia-focused microfinance solution, a responsible finance solution from a UK-based asset management firm and Malaysia’s retirement savings fund. Who won the $100,000 prize?



  • In the food sector, an Indonesian food seasoning company told us it’s planning a new factory in Saudi Arabia to meet what it says is a “growing demand” for its products in the kingdom. From what the company tells us, the move will primarily serve to distribute its products in Saudi Arabia to the very large Indonesian diaspora there as well as the almost 1.5 million pilgrims who travel there every year for the haj and umrah.
