DUBAI, 8th May, 2017 (WAM) -- The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, DCCI, has discussed ways to strengthen ties with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Al Qassim Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

This came during a recent meeting of representatives of the two chambers with Dubai Chamber officials. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and knowledge sharing among three organisations.

During the meeting, the delegations were briefed on Dubai Chamber's best practices in the areas of membership services, issuing of certificates of origin, customer service systems and management.

Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Vice President of Commercial Services at Dubai Chamber, revealed that the chamber issued 923,000 certificates of origin in 2016, and said that its procedures fall in line with international standards.

He pointed out that the number of ATA Carnets (ATA Carnet is an international Customs document) reached 5,500 during the same year, accounting for AED3.1 billion. He highlighted the importance of such services in facilitating global trade and supporting the development of business in Dubai.

He explained that strengthening cooperation with Al Qassim Chamber and Bahrain Chamber is one of the most effective ways to enhance bilateral relations and boost competiveness. He added that Dubai Chamber has developed strong expertise which both chambers stand to benefit from.

Following the meeting, the delegations toured Dubai Chambers premises and learned about the features and facilities of its environmentally-friendly building, as well as the operations within its Membership and Documentation Services Department.
