Dubai, UAE.: Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) and MRO Middle East, the co-located events bringing together the aerospace industry’s key sectors to support the growth of airlines in the region, opened today at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) with a Royal Tour from H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chief Executive and Chairman of Emirates Airline & Group.

His Highness toured the stands and interacted with many of the 330 exhibitors displaying the latest innovations in both aircraft interiors and MRO, including SITAONAIR, Sanad Aerotech, Falcon Aviation and Anjou Aero.

Among the products on display at this year’s event are IFEC technology, lighting and ultralight wheelchairs. Falcon Aviation, meanwhile, used the opportunity to announce that is has been awarded D1 approval for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) by three authorities, including the EASA. This allows Falcon Aviation to identify latent issues in customer aircraft and attend to them to the highest safety degree. The approval means Falcon Aviation joins a small group of operators in the region capable of providing NDT testing and opens up a new line of support to clients that was previously closed.

Airlines from the Middle East region and beyond know to visit the event to discover opportunities to network with suppliers, both existing and potential. Over 70 airlines from 40 countries are represented at this year’s edition, making it the perfect platform for suppliers to interact with airline buyers in a dedicated environment.

“OEMs for cabin interiors linefit have secured a portion of the aftermarket,” says Ioana Dragusin, Quality Assurance Manager at Anjou Aero. “AIME offers other fully certified manufacturers to showcase their products and offer Airlines viable, fully-certified alternative equipment for the interiors’ upgrade.”

Several agreements were signed on the sidelines of the event, including a long-term agreement between Safran Nacelles with Sabena technics’ GO TEAM support services for a scope of nacelle repairs that bring the GO TEAM’s resources directly “on wing” all over the world. In addition, Saudi Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI), a Honeywell certified service centre, announced completion of over 100 auxiliary power unit repairs from its Jet Propulsion Center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

With SAEI, Boeing B777 and Airbus A330 operations with Honeywell APUs receive MRO services in the Middle East. This capability strongly positions SAEI in achieving the Saudi Vision 2030, part of which aims to localize more than 50 percent of military equipment spending by 2030 and includes covering MRO services for fixed and rotary-wing military aircraft.

The IFEC Seminars taking place within the show also opened this morning, with Chair Rick Lundstrom, Editor of PAX International, leading sessions featuring industry experts including Liyaqat-Ali, Senior Manager at South African Airways; Rana Kashif Altaf, Senior Fleet Management, Engineering Technical Services Avionics & IFE at Emirates Airline; Philippe Combe, Product Manager, SITAONAIR and Neale Faulkner, Regional Vice President - MEASA at Inmarsat, among others.

Across two days these free to attend seminars in the show floor add another dimension to attendees’ experience at AIME, with market leading speakers sharing knowledge and experience with the audience.

“The event has yet again attracted some of the industry’s most exciting innovations,” says Caryn McConnachie, Aerospace Director at show organisers Tarsus F&E LLC Middle East. “We are proud to have been able to bring together the industry’s key innovators with its airline customers in a dedicated event, providing the ideal platform for business.”

“MRO Middle East really is the ideal platform for the industry in the region,“ says Lydia Janow, Managing Director/Events, Aviation Week Network. She continues, “Time and time again we hear from exhibitors that the facetime and networking opportunities are unrivalled, due to the focused nature. The business already done here on opening morning certainly demonstrates that.”

AIME and MRO Middle East continue tomorrow at Dubai World Trade Centre from 10:00am – 4:00pm. Visitors can still register on arrival at the venue.
