Shell Oman has partnered with Bank Muscat to provide contactless card payments in the Sultanate.

The bank seeks to stay innovate and provide customised payment solutions which are unique and change the customers’ payment behaviour from cash to digital.

The facility will use ATEX certified wireless card terminals at Shell Service Stations in Oman. The ATEX terminals incorporate European Union directives on equipment usage in inflammable and explosive environment.

In a statement, the lender said that Shell Service Stations have implemented Bank Muscat’s secure contactless point of sale (PoS) systems for ease of payment and security.

Amjad Iqbal Al Lawati, the AGM - Cards & eBanking, Bank Muscat, said that Shell Oman Marketing Company’s decision to enable contactless card payments at service stations using Bank Muscat’s contactless ‘Just Tap’ PoS system builds further on an already strong relationship.
